You have a special friend! Her name is JoHanna and she loves spending time with you. She says you are the little sister she never had (she has three brothers) and you two have a great time together. Tonight, Dad and I went out for our tenth anniversary and she had a slumber party with you! I love her because she loves you.

Today is your dad and my tenth wedding anniversary. I’ve been thinking about the last ten years a lot. I loved your dad so very much the day that I married him. And today, I love him so much more! We had an amazing life together before you all were born. We traveled, worked, and spent so much quality time together. But the truth is, as fun as those years were, they don’t even come close to the joy we share because the three of you are in our lives! I’m already praying for the people with whom you’ll spend your lives. I pray that they are learning to love and be loved just as you are and that they are learning and growing in all the ways that God has planned for them. It’s my greatest hope that you will find someone to enjoy year after year with, no matter what each one brings, just like I have.

We had an amazing Christmas day! Uncle Joe, Aunt Tonja, Dyllan and Karsen were special guests for breakfast and Ken and Marcia were special guests for dinner. We had a great day with lots of good time with family, good food and fun gifts! You make Christmas such a fun time!

Uncle Darryl is home on leave and your cousins, Dylan and Karsen are visiting from Alaska. One of Uncle Darryl’s favorite things to do each Christmas is build a gingerbread house. Today, you and Dyllan got to help him! Looks like you had a great time, and the house looks fantastic!

Dear Hayden,

Tonight was the Christmas program at your preschool. Since this is your third year there, we have a tradition for preschool Christmas program night. We all go to the program and then we go out for Chinese food. It’s always a fun evening! I’m a little sad because you are growing up so fast. Next year, we won’t be going to the preschool Christmas program because you will be in Kindergarten! You sang beautifully and I know you had a great time with your friends tonight.

Last night we went to the North Pole on the Polar Express train! Nana and Papa came, too, and we all had a wonderful time together. We stayed at the train depot in Williams and there was so much snow! Hayden, you rode both ways in Nana and Papa’s car and got into some really fun antics in the back seat. You had a fabulous time — there was a lot of wonder in your eyes — it will be a long time before I forget your super excitement!

This week, our Christmas card went out. We tried to get a family picture, but that’s really hard to do with five of us, so we opted for individual pictures of y’all instead. I love this card because it’s more than a picture… it gave us the chance to share a little about your personalities!
