Swim School

Dear Bennett,

Today was your first swim lesson at the swim school where both of your siblings learned to swim! You had a grand time playing in the water and learning to float. Dad had fun in the water with you, too!

Love you,
Mama

Road Trip 2013

Dear H, O and B,

We just went on the best family vacation ever! We spent two whole weeks at different places in California and on the road together. We went on so many amazing adventures and had such a great time!

We started in Los Angeles, where we visited the American Girl Store (Hayden) and the zoo (Owen and Bennett). We spent the next two days in Anaheim at Disneyland and California Adventure. This was a special time because Nana and Papa joined us for this part of the trip! Then, we headed up to Santa Maria to visit Grandpa. We went to the beach at Cayucos, fed the seals at Morro Bay, celebrated the 4th of July in Solvang and had a fabulous time on your first birthday, Bennett. Uncle Darryl and Andrea met us there, too, which was great! Then, we headed to Escondido to spend a week at Lawrence Welk. We visited the San Diego Zoo and Legoland, but the best times we had there were relaxing at the resort and doing the activities there. The Wielands came and joined us for the end of the trip, which was awesome, too.

I love vacation because it’s a chance for us all to get back to each other — I love being with your dad, and it was so nice to have so much time off with him and to make so many memories as a family.

Love you,
Mama

Cake and Icing in Your Hair…

… you’re one year old, so you don’t care!

Dear Bennett,

Today, love, you are one year old! This has been such a fast year and you have grown into such a big boy! You pay attention to everything, you get super excited and kick your feet when you do, you eat anything and everything, you say “Mama” and you smile and laugh constantly! You have blessed us and completed us in so many ways this year and we all just adore you!

You are having a very special first birthday, because we are on vacation, so we are getting to celebrate with our extended family whom we aren’t usually with for birthdays! Your Auntie Kim rented a bounce house (in which you had a total blast bouncing!) and we had pizza and cupcakes. You were quite happy! You even took a mid-day snooze to re-energize for the evening.

Happy 1st birthday, Buddy. We’re so lucky you’re ours.

Love you,
Mama

A Lost Tooth

Dear Hayden,

Tonight, on the way to the fireworks show in Solvang, you lost your first tooth. You really lost it! It came out of your mouth and fell into the road, and we couldn’t find it! I had to stop and take your picture and everyone was with us — it was a really fun moment! You are such a big girl now… you’ve grown up in a flash right before our very eyes. I remember how excited I was when that tooth came in when you were 6 months old… now you are almost 6 years old and it came out! You are so excited to have the tooth fairy visit when we get home!

Love you,
Mama
